Bus collides with tree in Keonjhar, 35 injured

Joda:  At least 35 employees of Tata Projects Limited (TPL) were injured after a bus ferrying them crashed into a tree in Keonjhar district Thursday.

Bamebari police reached the spot and rescued the victims. All the injured have been admitted to Tata Tisco Hospital owing to its proximity from the accident site.

According to a police official, the incident took place after the driver lost control of the vehicle bearing registration number OD05V6404. As many as 70 employees of Tata Project Limited (TPL) were travelling to Khandabandhu mines in the bus named Natraj.

Whether it was a human error or a mechanical failure is yet to be ascertained.

One of the injured Manoj Kumar Sahu, however, suggested that over-boarding is a norm in this vehicle. “Authorities cancel out gate passes, if we complain against it,” he said.

On being informed, the police officials along with SDPO Dilip Kumar Bag reached the spot and started an investigation. The bus has been seized.
