Cabinet approves 11 proposals including Odisha University of Health Sciences

Bhubaneswar: The State government has approved Odisha University of Health Sciences Act, 2021 for the establishment of University of Health Sciences, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Bikram Keshari Arukha informed the House during Budget Session of the Assembly Wednesday.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik took a final call in this regard Tuesday afternoon in a meeting of the State Cabinet.

According to sources, the Health and Family Welfare department had earlier given a proposal to set up the Odisha University of Health Sciences. The department aimed at ensuring affiliation, training and research in modern medicines, mental health education, dental care education, homoeopathy and Ayurveda, nursing education, pharmacy and paramedical education, physiotherapy and allied medical sciences and other medical or paramedical courses.

Notably, a total of 11 proposals were approved by the Cabinet, which included State level Sports Infrastructure Development project for the expansion of Kalinga Stadium Sports Complex in Bhubaneswar.

A new International Hockey Stadium in Rourkela will be constructed to host FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup in 2023. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 365.38 crore and it will be completed in 16 months.
