Bhubaneswar, Sept 16: Aggrieved officials working in different state departments at the Heads of Department building Sunday threatened to intensify their agitation to press for their long pending demands of cadre restructuring.
The Odisha Heads of Department Section Officers’ Association and Odisha Heads of Department Ministerial Officers’ Association Sunday in a press conference threatened to amplify their ongoing agitation from Tuesday. These associations have now planned to defer work from 10am to 5pm instead of their earlier picketing hours from 10am to 1:30pm to create pressure on the state government to heed to their demands.
Officials also said that as per the plan of the agitating protesters around 2500 aggrieved staff are now scheduled to meet Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at Naveen Niwas to seek his intervention to fulfil their demands which can help the cadres to ensure a uniform procedure which could lead to timely promotions and other benefits at par with other cadres of the Odisha government.
Sudhanshu Patra, General Secretary, Odisha Heads of Department Ministerial Officers Association told Orissa POST, “We have planned to intensify our agitation to press for our demands. We will extend our picketing till 5pm now while we will also meet the CM with 2500 officials to reiterate our demands.”
Patra said that the Chief Minister had earlier talked about cadre restructuring but till now no decision has been taken. He said it was discriminatory that other cadres like OAS and others were benefiting while the ministerial officials and section officers were struggling.
The aggrieved officials said that the cadre restructuring would ensure pay at par and timely benefits for people engaged in their jobs. The officials alleged that there are many officials who get one promotion in 30 years due to lack of cadre restructuring.
