Campaign picks up in Chhendipada

Chhendipada: Campaigning has picked up in Chhendipada Assembly constituency with political parties holding rallies and roadshows. The constituency will go to polls in the third phase April 23.

Leaders of three major political parties, the BJD, BJP and the Congress are touring villages to canvass for their candidates.

The BJP held a roadshow and bike rally Wednesday. BJP state President Basant Kumar Panda, candidate Agasti Behera and party workers started the rally at Koshala Maa Ramachnadi temple and visited Koshala, Brahmanbil, Santarabandha, Changudia, Kampasala and Chhendiapada. The roadshow ended at Patrapada.

The leaders raised issues like the drinking water problem and shortage of doctors at the local hospital.

Congress candidate Sasmita Behera started the party’s campaign from Jerangadehuri Sahi and visited Jarapada, Tukudi, Ogi and Para. Congress workers distributed their manifesto and urged people to vote for the party.

BJD MLA Susant Kumar Behera and Sambalpur MP Nalinikanta Pradhan visited Jarapada. A bike rally was organised by the BJD from Balipata to Durgapur village.

At the meeting held at Durgapur both Susant and Nalinkanta spoke about the welfare programmes of the government and urged people to vote for the BJD.
