Bhubaneswar, August 31: Housing and urban development minister Pushpendu Singhdeo said the capital city is set for unprecedented growth with the Centre sanctioning it smart city status.
Pushpendu was speaking at a programme organised by Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation to mark the local self-governance day in the city at Soochana Bhawan Monday.
Singhdeo said the government has empowered urban local bodies (ULBs) to impose property tax which would help boost revenues for the municipal body.
The government has given its nod for huge infrastructure projects in the city, by introducing a Transfer of Rights provision that would facilitate transfer of lands for carrying out development projects, the minister stated.
Singhdeo sought citizens’ help in carrying out development activities aimed at providing citizen-centric projects under the Smart City project. Mayor AN Jena announced the opening of a BMC multi-specialty hospital at a budget of `178 crore at Gadakana next year.
