BHUBANESWAR: The University Law College, Utkal University, Bhubaneswar, organised a two-day international seminar on the theme of ‘Global Refugee Crisis: A Multi-Disciplinary Humanitarian Approach’ Saturday.
The event witnessed participations from several distinguished academicians, scholars and students around the globe. Research scholars from various countries like Syria, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka had sent their abstracts expressing concerns over the conditions and the negative repercussions faced by the victims of several wars and persecutions.
Inquisitive inquiry, in-depth research and fluent presentations endowed the event. The complexities around the issues of refugee crisis, rehabilitation, resilience and a humanitarian response to the disastrous consequences faced by the victims of different wars and persecutions were deeply emphasized and discussed by the eminent guests in the backdrop of the conference.
The discussions were highly enlightening and beneficial for all the persons who were eager to have an insight into this particular subject as it threw light upon multiple aspects of refugee laws. The students from various disciplines from different corners of India had also presented their research works and conveyed their prolific and deep inquiries into the possible solutions to the crisis.
Justice B.R. Sarangi, Judge, Orissa High Court graced the inauguration as the chief guest while notable scholar and prominent professor Monoj Kumar Sinha, Director, Indian Institute of Law, Delhi, joined as the key-note speaker.
Most notably, eminent Professor V.T. Thamilmaran, Head of the Department of Public and International Law, University of Colombo, Sri Lanka was invited as the Guest-of-Honour along with Vishisht Seva Medal Holder Major General S.D. Mohanti. Prof. (Dr.) Soumendra Mohan Patnaik, Vice-Chancellor, Utkal University presided over the event.
