Srinagar: Captain Cool, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, an honorary lieutenant colonel in the Territorial Army, joined Army troops in south Kashmir.
South Kashmir is highly militancy-infested and Dhoni is to carry out patrolling, guard duties and similar responsibilities just like any other soldier. The former skipper will stay with the 106 TA Battalion (Para) till August 15.
The World Cup winning captain will stay for two weeks and was approved by the Army headquarters last week on Dhoni’s request. Dhoni was accorded the honorary rank of lieutenant colonel in 2011 and has been conferred the Padma Bhushan by President Ramnath Kovind at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
