Case registered against BCJD vice-president Manjit Das

Cuttack: Purighat police Tuesday registered a case against Biju Chhatra Janata Dal (BCJD) vice-president Manjeet Das for hurling abuses at actor-turned-politician Anubhav Mohanty.

It has been learned that Manjit Das was summoned to the Purighat police station where he was questioned. Earlier one of the security officers of Anubhav had lodged a complaint with the police. In the complaint, the officer said that Manjit had hurled abuses at Anubhav. On the basis of the complaint, the police registered the case against Manjit under IPC sections 341, 323, 294, 307, 379 and 506.

Anubhav took to microblogging site Twitter wherein he accused Manjit of hurling abuses at him. He also marked a copy of the tweet to the Police Commissioner. He also posted a video of the fracas and statements of two eyewitnesses.

According to Anubhav, the incident occurred Sunday night. The Kendrapara MP was trying to settle a dispute between two youths when Manjit appeared on the scene and started hurling abuses at the BJD representative. Anubhav further alleged that he had called Purighat II-C, Rashmirajan Shah. However, the latter instead of arresting Manjit misbehaved with Anubhav.
