CBI books HAL senior manager over financial irregularities

New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered a case against a senior manager of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Engine Division, Koraput and other persons for an alleged fraudulent transfer of over Rs 5 crore.

The accused are identified as Senior Manager Bhaben Mitra, Assistant Manager Abinash Kumar and job contract labour Subhashree Das, all from HAL Engine Division, Koraput. Besides private individuals, Jayaram Garada, Bipra Charana Maharana, Jisudan Khosla, Urdhab Khosla and Sadananda Nayak, all residents of Koraput district, have also been booked.

According to CBI, the accused allegedly entered into a criminal conspiracy among themselves and in pursuance thereof, the employees of HAL Engine Division, Koraput and unknown officials of HAL have misappropriated an amount of Rs 5, 01, 74, 906 of the PSU. They fraudulently transferred the fund to the accounts of private contractors and unknown others without any supporting documents between January and August, this year.

The CBI has registered a case following a complaint from HAL against the accused and also conducted searches at the office and residential premises of the accused which led to recovery of incriminating documents.
