Konark: A three-member team of experts from the ASI-appointed Roorkee-based Central Building Research Institute (CBRI) took stock of the status of the 13th century Sun temple here Tuesday.
The team, led by senior scientist Siddharth Behera, reached the site around 11am and began inspection of the shrine’s Jagamohan.
According to the team, at least eight sensitive points on the 13th century structure require immediate installation of scaffoldings.
“The team will submit its survey report to the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) Director General (DG) and restoration works will be carried out as per the instructions of the central conservator,” said ASI superintendent (Bhubaneswar circle) Arun Kumar Mallik who accompanied the team.
