Central team assesses ‘Fani’ damage, offers complete support

Bhubaneswar: Delegates of the inter-ministerial Central team Wednesday visited Bhubaneswar and held talks with the victims of cyclone ‘Fani’ in the city along with state government officials apart from assessing the damages caused by the extremely severe cyclonic storm in the state.

After meeting Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi and Special relief Commissioner (SRC) Bishnupada Sethi at the State Secretariat, Bhardwaj assured of complete support to the state.

“We visited a number of cyclone-hit areas. There has been extensive damage in Puri. We will offer complete support to Odisha government be it the power network or strengthening livelihood of people through MGNREGA scheme. The central government will extend support to the state in restoration across the spectrum,” said leader of the visiting delegation Vivek Bharadwaj.

On the last day of their visit to the state, the 11-member team led by Ministry of Home Affairs Joint Secretary Bhardwaj visited the Kalinga Hockey Stadium, Kalinga Nagar area apart from Rasulgarh and Kalaraput slum.

It may be mentioned here that the team had come to the state on a three day field tour to assess damages in the state owing to the cyclone. It had started its field survey in Puri April 13.
