Rajnagar: A team of Central government officials Friday arrived in Kendrapara to assess the damages caused by cyclone Bulbul.
A chopper carrying the three-member team led by Ministry of Home Affairs joint secretary Saheli Ghosh Roy landed at Talachua Gangamata ground under Rajnagar block. From there, the team went straight to Talachua, Rangani and Keruapal panchayats to assess the damage caused by the recent cyclone.
They also visited the remote areas in those panchayats to take stock of the situation. The team met the people who are still living under difficult conditions and inspected their houses, fishing boats and roads.
Kendrapara collector Samarth Verma along with district administration officials accompanied the team during its visit.
It may be mentioned here that a seven-member Inter-Ministerial Central Team is in the state since Thursday to assess the damage caused by the cyclone. The team plans to visit Bhadrak, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara and Balasore districts to evaluate the extent of damage and submit a report to the Centre.
