Bhubaneswar: Union Minister of State for Shipping and Chemical and Fertilisers Mansukh Mandaviya said Monday that in the first 100 days of the Narendra Modi 2.0 government, Rs 16,000 crore has been given to Odisha. The minister also pointed out that in the aftermath of ‘Cyclone Fani’ the Centre was quick to respond with an initial relief of Rs 1,000 crore.
“The Union government gave Rs 1,000 crore to Odisha to tackle the devastation which happened due to ‘Fani’. In total, a fund of Rs 4,600 crore was sanctioned by the Centre for re-development of the affected areas,” Mansukh Mandaviya informed.
Mansukh Mandaviya appealed to Chief Minister appealed to Naveen Patnaik as well as the State government to build cyclone resistant infrastructure in Odisha.
“Now the need of the hour is to have cyclone resistant infrastructure. I appeal to Naveen ji (Patnaik) to take special care and develop infrastructure, more so in coastal areas, that will help tackle future cyclones efficiently,” Mandaviya told a media gathering here.
The minister also said that people living close to Paradeep will have new job openings as there new projects coming up in the port area.
“Paradeep port area is now set to become an industrial hub. Work is currently on and 3-4 industries have been provided land based on bidding. These projects will create more job opportunities for people living in and around Paradip,” Mansukh Mandaviya asserted.
Mandaviya also informed that the ministry has also identified two light houses in Odisha and will develop the locality as potential tourist hubs in the state.
Mandaviya also talked about doing away with archaic laws, removing Article 370, improving Parliamentary outcomes, abolishing triple talaq as some of the important measures taken by the NDA government in the first 100 days.
