Bhubaneswar, June 8: The state government Wednesday urged Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India to share the latest National Population Register (NPR) -Aadhaar linked database for linking ration cards under National Food Security Act (NFSA).
“I request you to instruct Electronics Corporation of India limited (ECIL) to share latest NPR-Aadhaar-linked database for use by food supplies and consumer welfare department for ‘‘inorganic seeding of aadhaar numbers with ration cards beneficiaries database,” said Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi in his letter to Registrar General of India and Census Commissioner of India Shri Sailesh today.
Stating that the Centre has been insisting on the state to seed Aadhaar numbers in NFSA beneficiaries database, Padhi said, “3.37crore Aadhaar numbers have been generated with NPR TIN (tax information network) for Orissa and the database is available with ECIL.” The Chief Secretary said Orissa is among the states that has utilised NPR ID to inorganically seed Aadhaar in the NFSA beneficiary database.
According to sources, seeding of NPR-Aadhaar database with NFSA ration cards will plug leakage and improve transparency in the public distribution system.
