Bhubaneswar: The Central Electricity Supply Utility of Odisha (Cesu) has directed all field officials of its divisions to ensure supply of electricity to the consumers and address their grievances.
This directive was given at a review meeting held at the Maritime Museum Hall in Cuttack recently, a release issued by Cesu said. According to the release, the number of consumers under its jurisdiction has reached over 25 lakh including those in villages and small hamlets.
The meeting discussed at length about the billing system, meter reading, redressal of consumer grievances and maintenance of electricity set-ups.
Attending the meeting, Cesu chief executive officer (CEO), Md Sadique Alam, who had visited Salipur, Athgarh, Nimapara and Cuttack electricity divisions, expressed his concern over issues pertaining to billing, metering, upgradation of services and poor maintenance work at the sub-stations.
Alam also expressed his dissatisfaction over the activities of the franchisee firm and directed its employees as well as that of Cesu to ensure hassle-free consumer services.
He also stressed on billing as per meter-reading and collection of outstanding dues. Appealing to create a consumer-friendly environment across divisions, Alam said the key to growth and development of the institution lies in providing quality consumer services.
Meanwhile, the Cesu CEO has completed his visit to all the 20 electricity divisions.
