Bhawanipatna: In yet another raid in a village under Kalahandi district Sunday, Chhattisgarh STF seized six country-made rifles, bows, and arrows, along with body parts of various animals. Reports said that a poacher was also arrested in this connection.
As per the report, a tip-off was received by the Chhattisgarh STF about supply of illegal firearms to poachers of Chhattisgarh by an illegal gun-making factory at Khaligarh under Dharmagarh range of the south forest division in the district. Acting on the tip-off, Kalahandi forest officials along with Chhattisgarh STF personnel raided Khaligarh village.
During their raid, they found body parts of various animals, as many as six country-made guns apart from bows and arrows which were kept in most of the houses. The arrested poacher was identified as Daitari Chalan of the village. Some other poachers of the village absconded after they came to know about the raid. Among the seized animal body parts, there are deer skulls, wild boar body parts, and turtle shells. Before this, Chhattisgarh STF at Mangalpur village of Jayapatna forest range had arrested five poachers and seized gun-making equipment. Later, STF came to know of a link between Mangalpur village with Khaligarh village which led to Khaligarh village being raided.
