Chief Justice KS Jhaveri urges lawyers to go for ADR facility

Bhubaneswar : The Chief Justice of Orissa High Court, KS Jhaveri, Saturday urged lawyers to adopt the Alternative Dispute Redress (ADR) facility more for quick and smooth decision of a huge number of cases. He was addressing the lawyers in the Capital who gathered at the annual function of the Bhubaneswar Bar Association here Saturday. Justice Jhaveri stressed on the need to deal with the huge number of cases pending at various courts in the state.

He also told the gathering that the judiciary should adopt ADR more aggressively in order to go for paperless system. He said that ADR facility will be helpful for both persecution and defendant parties as mutual understanding between the parties, helps the judge to declare verdict easily and is less time consuming than the normal traditional process.

Chief Justice Jhaveri said that the more and more lawyers should also be imparted training regarding the ADR system of judgment. The lawyers get trained at the state judicial academy at Cuttack.

He expressed regret for the delay in the completion of the judicial complex inside Bhubaneswar court. The ex-Chief Justice of Supreme Court of India, Deepak Rath in the presence of Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik had laid the foundation stone of the judicial complex in an event last year. He assured that he would review the progress of the work related to the complex Saturday itself and will take all the necessary steps in this regard.

The president of BBA, Durga Madhab Mishra presided over the function while many senior lawyers along with invited dignitaries graced the occasion. The BBA has more than 60,000 lawyers in its fold.
