Child actress of Khichdi quit acting for ‘casting couch’ syndrome

TV actress Richa Bhadra who had once shot to fame with the popular serial ‘Khichdi’ has recently said that she was forced to quit acting because of the ‘casting couch’ syndrome. She had also worked in other serials such as ‘Baa Bahu aur Baby’ and Mrs Tendulkar.

Richa has been quoted as saying that post marriage she auditioned for a few roles. “Then I came across a casting director who said ‘Keep me happy and I will give you work’,” she said during an interview.

“The director wanted me to meet him in a hotel but I said I could only see him in a coffee shop. That was the end to all my aspirations I had for acting in Hindi films. I didn’t want to ruin the image which I had built as a child actor,” she added.

Richa said she still wants to act, but is uncomfortable doing bold scenes as she feels it will demean her family name.

Richa has also said she has faced body-shaming a number of times for being ‘chubby’ and that she had been repeatedly told to lose weight to get more acting projects.

Notably, Richa married businessman Vivek Gupta 2017 and the couple had a dream wedding.
