Cuttack: In a relief to Balasore Lok Sabha MP Rabindra Jena, the Orissa High Court Tuesday granted anticipatory bail to him in connection with his alleged involvement in Seashore group chit fund scam.
A single-judge bench of Justice C R Das granted the anticipatory bail to Jena citing his cooperation in the probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
The bench, however, ruled that the investigating officer can impose conditions on the parliamentarian.
The CBI had registered a case against Jena over his financial transactions with Seashore Group, a chit fund firm, following which the MP had moved the HC seeking anticipatory bail.
He had informed the court in his bail application that he had been cooperating with the CBI in the investigations. The CBI had summoned Jena twice and interrogated him in connection with his links with Seashore group.
The investigating agency had summoned some of the employees of his office 38 times as part of the probe and the employees had complied with the order, the BJD MP told the court.
