Bhubaneswar: Extending solidarity with the farmers on protest in New Delhi, farmers under the banner of All India Kisan Sangharsha Coordination Committee, Odisha staged a demonstration before the Raj Bhawan, here Saturday.

The farmers demanded immediate repeal of three farm laws brought by the Centre and law to ensure minimum support price (MSP) for all agricultural produces.

“The Centre has forcibly implemented three black farm laws which are against the farmers. Though the farmers are protesting in New Delhi for a long time, the Modi government has not repealed laws. Therefore, on the occasion of 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, we have launched Azad Kishan Abhiyan to protect farmers from the capitalists,” said Suresh Panigrahi, a leader from the Committee.

The Union government should immediately repeal the three laws without holding any further discussion, he demanded.

Similarly, the state government should also provide bonus of Rs 750 per quintal of paddy to the farmers in addition to the MSP. Besides, a law should be passed to provide all kind of benefits like farm land owners to the sharecroppers, he added.

The Committee has decided to hold a convention of farmers from all across the state February 15 to put pressure on the governments.
