BHUBANESWAR: In a bid to improve digital literacy in the state, a first of its kind three-day Information Technology (IT) convention will be held at KIIT here from 16th to 18th January, 2020. A curtain raiser was held at Press Club here Monday.
Organised by the Society of India (CSI), the first and largest body of computer professionals in India, Bhubaneswar has been selected for its 53rd annual convention. Themed ‘Digital Democracy – IT for Change’ the convention is being held to expedite Government of India’s objective to improve digital connectivity and assist state government’s initiative of 5T plan, which has technology as one of its aspect.
Addressing the event, keynote speaker and Chairman of National Board of Accreditation, K K Aggarwal, said, “We need to realise the true potential of IT. In order to achieve digital democracy, inclusion of everyone is a must. CSI is the largest body of IT professionals and they can make a huge difference in this aspect by interacting with more students who are the potential crusaders of technology.”
Proposed to be held at KIIT campus, more than 1000 computer professionals and students from all over India and abroad will be participating in this convention. The convention will provide a platform to the participants to share their views and ideas on the various aspects of the theme.
The programme is set to be held in three sessions – convention, conference and award ceremony. About thirty inspiring IT entrepreneurs as well as start-ups are set to be honoured in the convention. Apart from this, the convention will also help attracting investors in the sector of IT.
Adding to this, Sasmita Samanta, Vice Chancellor of KIIT University said, “KIIT has about 15,000 engineering students studying. They will get valuable exposure from the country’s largest IT body. With the state becoming one of the prime educational centres of the country, this convention is a stepping stone in its IT revolution.”
