Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar New railway station under East Coast Railway (ECoR) will become operational July 14 to coincide with Rath Yatra.
The station is located between Mancheswar and Barang stations and is around 14 km from Bhubaneswar station at Master Canteen here.
The trains which would start their services initially at the new station are 58001/58002 Puri-Howrah-Puri Passenger, 58131/58132 Rourkela-Puri-Rourkela Passenger and 68534/68533 Cuttack-Brahmapur-Cuttack MEMU.
The station would have seven platforms, but for the time being, three would be made operational. Bhubaneswar station has six platforms.
The station has been built at an estimated cost of around `50 crore, according to official sources.
ECoR will unveil several other projects before Rath Yatra like a new ticket counter at Bagala Dharmashala in Jajpur district.
Besides, two foot overbridges, one each at Berhampur and Bhadrak stations, are expected to be inaugurated soon. Moreover, sources said a new building at Bhadrak station would soon be commissioned.
Meanwhile, ECoR has decided to run 184 special trains to cater to the rush during the Rath Yatra.
