Bhubaneswar: Amid the surge in Covid-19 cases, the Summative Assessment-I of Class X students will begin Wednesday, Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha said Tuesday.
According to BSE president Ramashis Hazra, as many as 5,76,223 students will appear in the examination, which will be held across 3,093 centres.
In terms of preparations, the official stated that question papers have already been distributed to 311 nodal centres, including 22 police stations. To prevent malpractice, the Board has formed a four-tier squad to conduct surprise checks.
Mobile phones will not be permitted inside the examination halls. Only centre superintendents will be allowed to keep their phones under certain conditions, he added.
The Summative Assessment-1 will continue till January 8 and will be held in two sittings.
Earlier, the examination was scheduled to begin December 27, 2021. However, BSE later postponed the examination to January 5, 2022.
