Bhubaneswar: A classical music event was organised by Bhubaneswar Music Circle at Rabindra Mandap here Tuesday.
The programme opened with a Hindustani flute recital by Rudra Prasad Parida who was accompanied by Sukanta Pradhan on Tabla and Satyabarta Behera on Tanpura. The performance was based on Raag Miya Malhar.
The next and concluding performance was Hindustani vocal recital Malhar which was based on Raag Sangeet and a bhajan, Prem Muditi Manse Kaho Jai Sri Ram by Bhanumati Sahoo. Sahoo was accompanied by Sukanta Pradhan on Tabla, Ajay Kumar Barik on Violin and Akash Ranjib Biswal on Harmonium.
Interacting with Orissa POST, organiser of the event Khirod Pattnaik said, “Every other month we conduct such classical music programme. In this age of electronic and Western music where classical music is struggling to remain alive, Bhubaneswar Music Circle is trying hammer and tongs to breathe a new lease of life to this age-old music genre.”
