Yoga day was observed in AIIMS Bhubaneswar where clinical integration of yoga was emphasised. Addressing the yoga event, AIIMS, Bhubaneswar executive director Ashutosh Biswas said, “To make the healing process swift and better, clinical integration of yoga is need of the hour. Managing stress to keeping ourselves calm, yoga is very helpful in post-surgery rehabilitation.” Biswas said that AIIMS is working to integrate yoga into all its departments to make the rehabilitation process better. “Departments like gastroenterology, medical oncology, general surgery and cardiology have already integrated yoga in different treatment processes,” he added. The event was attended by faculties of MBBS and nursing along with para-medical students, officers, and employees, Yoga instructor Santosh Kumar Sahu practised yoga while Subhashish Sarkar (Homeopathy) extended vote of thanks. Department of Community Medicine and Family Medicine (CMFM) in collaboration with the department of AYUSH, observed International Yoga Day at Government High School at IRC Village in Nayapalli.
On this occasion, Swayam Pragyan Parida and Prajna Paramita Giri stressed on the importance of yoga in life for improving mental health. ILS, Bhubaneswar Institute of Life Sciences (ILS), Bhubaneswar organised a special yoga session on the relevance of yoga for human body, breathing system and mind. The session was conducted by yoga expert Manorama Panigrahy and Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences expert Nancy Sharma. They demonstrated a few yoga exercises before the participants that could be practiced at home and workplace.
ILS director Debasis Dash spoke on this year’s theme “Yoga for Humanity” and emphasised on the numerous benefits of yoga. The event was coordinated by Rajeeb Swain and participated by scientists, students and staffers of ILS. KIIT-KISS The 9th International Yoga Day celebrated at KIIT & KISS was attended by around 5,000 staffers of the twin institutions.
Inaugurating the event, vicechancellor of KIIT Deemed to be University Sasmita Samanta said, “India was the land where yoga was originated in the ancient times and it has also become the lead nation to give yoga an international platform and arena.” She said that during the last nine years, India has taken yoga to every individual across the world. “Yoga is one of the most important aspects of our lives to maintain balanced mind and a healthy body,” she added.
CUO, Koraput Vice-chancellor of Central University of Odisha, Koraput Chakradhar Tripathi Wednesday inaugurated the 9th International Day of Yoga on the varsity campus. Addressing the event, Tripathi said, “The effort to find pleasure (Ananda) is yoga; to connect with Purnabrahma with reverence through yoga is great pleasure (Mahananda). This effort has been continued by the great persons of India since time immemorial. Understanding the value and significance of yoga, the world is celebrating International Day of Yoga today.” A yoga workshop was organised on this occasion.
Yoga expert Jaya Krishna Padhan performed various yogasanas as per the Common Yoga Protocol. ‘Asanas’ like Bhramari, Dhyana, Sitali, Kapala Bhati, Nadisodhan, Sabasana, Pawan Muktasan, Ardha Halasana, Uttana Padasana, Setu Bandhasana, Bhujangasana, Makarasana, Bakrasana, Uttana Mandukasana, Sasakasana, Ustrasana, Ardha Ustrasana, Bajrasana, Bhadrasana, Ardha Chakrasana, Tadasana and different body movements.
ODM School, Bhubaneswar Chairman-cum-founder of ODM School Satyabrata Minaketan along with students and teachers participated a yoga session organised by the institution on the occasion of Yoga Day, Wednesday. Minaketan advised the students to practise yoga regularly to stay fit both mentally and physically. BJEM School On the occasion of International Yoga Day, BJEM School also organised a yoga session on the institution premises where students, teachers and school principal Sandhya Jena and others performed yoga.
