Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Saturday flagged off Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation (KALIA) raths to spread awareness on the scheme launched last month.
The raths would go to all panchayats of the state to create awareness about various aspects of the scheme through audio-visual and folk art.
Altogether, 150 raths will move across the rural areas and sensitise people about the scheme.
The action was necessitated to dispel confusion on the scheme among the farmers. The raths will clarify all the doubts of the farmers regarding the scheme.
The KALIA scheme amounting to Rs 10,180 crore was launched by the state government recently with an objective to reduce poverty and accelerate agricultural prosperity.
The scheme has provision to provide support to cultivators for cultivation, livelihood support for landless households, financial assistance to vulnerable agriculture households and landless labourers, life insurance cover and interest free crop loans.
Under the scheme, Rs 10,000 per family at the rate of Rs 5,000 each for khariff and rabi seasons will be provided as financial assistance for taking up cultivation.
The government has directly transferred Rs 5,000 to the accounts of 12.45 lakh beneficiaries at a function in Puri January 24 last.
