CM inaugurates two industrial projects

Ground-breaking ceremony for 13 others

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Thursday inaugurated two industrial projects while ground-breaking ceremony was held for 13 others ahead of the Make in Odisha (MIO) conclave slated for November this year.
Naveen conducted the ground-breaking and inauguration ceremonies of the 15 projects through video conferencing at the state Secretariat here.
The projects are being set up at a cumulative investment of `2,901.20 crore and will create 3,091 jobs.
“Odisha is fast emerging as the manufacturing hub of eastern India and we are working towards developing the state into a manufacturing hub of South Asia,” Naveen said.
The CM said his government has focused on the 3T-s — transparency, technology and team-work — and has promulgated progressive policies and developed state-of-the-art infrastructure to provide a conducive environment for industrial development.
“Our emphasis is to drive port-led manufacturing anchored by the three deep-water ports in the state along the east coast economic corridor. My government has demonstrated its commitment to deliver projects on ground, which is reflected in the fact that out of these investment intents received, close to 65 per cent projects are in various stages of approval and implementation,” he said.
Announcing Japan will be the partner country for the Make in Odisha event, he said, this will provide a new impetus to the relations between Odisha and the country and open up varied sectors for collaboration.
Industries secretary Sanjeev Chopra said, “We hope that the relation between Japan and Odisha may not remain confined to industries and investments, but we’ll diversify to cover different sectors like culture. They will be very happy to see the Buddhist heritage the state has.”
The State Bank of India (SBI) has been roped in as the banking partner and it intends to introduce a slew of products and services to cater to not just the financial needs of large corporates but also Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and Self Help Groups (SHGs) who are the main drivers of job creation in Odisha.
Meanwhile, after Mumbai, the Chief Minister would attend an investment road show in New Delhi September 12 to showcase Odisha’s investment potential and business ecosystem.
