Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Monday launched a new scheme named People’s Empowerment – Enabling Transparency and Accountability of Odisha Initiatives (PEETHA) in the state.
“This is an initiative aimed at creation of awareness about various government schemes and improve transparency in distribution of individual and social benefits,” the Chief Minister told reporters here.
This is part of the government’s 3T initiative–Technology, Transparency and Teamwork and a sub-scheme of Ama Gaon Ama Bikas programme, he said.
Under this, every month starting from December, camps will be held at panchayat-level between 15 and 20 of each month for distribution of benefits under Ama LED, Mission Shakti, social security assistance like Madhu Babu Pension Yojana and artiste pension, Nirman Shramika and other individual benefits as per local requirement, the CM said, adding other demands for local requirement will also be taken up in the camps.
“Awareness generation about important initiatives of the government on various themes will also be organised, he said. Block level observers will monitor the schemes and voluntary social workers will assist in its implementation, the CM said.
He said every month one panchayat in each block will be awarded with a cash prize of `5 lakh at the district-level for organising PEETHA. Similarly, best panchayats, blocks and districts will be felicitated and awarded with special funds at a state-level function, he added.
