Bhubaneswar: Vulnerability mapping of all villages and habitations located in hilly and difficult regions in Odisha will be made and all facilities will be provided to the people where ever they shift to other locations, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said.
Mr Patnaik who visited Gangabada GP of Gajapati District Wednesday to meet the affected people in cyclone Titli, expressed his deep sympathy for the bereaved families who were killed in landslide.
He said, “Never in the history of Odisha people had ever died from landslide which is a completely new phenomenon in the state and all steps will be taken to rehabilitate the affected families.”
At least 15 people who had taken shelter atop Mahendragiri hill to save themselves from the fury of the very severe cyclonic storm Titli, were killed in a landslide on October 12 last. Many villagers have expressed their willingness to the chief minister to shift from hilltop to other locations.
The chief minister said the new settlements will be declared as villages and all basic facilities like drinking water, anganwadi centres, school, community centres and health facilities will be provided.
Provisions of connectivity, homestead land, house building assistance, social security provisions will be made immediately.
The State, Mr Patnaik said will provide for the education and other expenses who have been orphaned due to natural calamity.
The ex gratia amount to be given to the families of the deceased have been enhanced to Rs.10 lakh and the additional 6 lakh will be met from the Chief minister’s Relief Fund, he said.
