Bhubaneswar: In a bid to promote sports in both state and national level, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik virtually inaugurated three sports facilities in two districts of Odisha.
The facilities include an indoor stadium at Hinjilicut and a multi-purpose indoor hall along with three badminton courts in Chatrapur of Ganjam district, and10m and 50m shooting ranges in Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar of Khurda district.
The CM also promised the citizens of Ganjam a synthetic turf hockey training centre that will be started in Chatrapur area of the district as hockey is part of the rich sporting culture of the district.
Berhampur MP Chandra Sekhar Sahu and Aska MP Pramila Bisoi joined the ceremony from Ganjam.
The Hinjilicut Indoor Stadium has the facilities for badminton courts and for table tennis, yoga, gym, physiotherapy, board games. A total of Rs 11 crore has been spent to construct the indoor stadium.
Similarly, the Chatrapur Indoor stadium has three badminton courts, table tennis rooms and other facilities
On the other hand, the shooting ranges in Kalinga Stadium have a 22 lane 10-meter range which includes 10 electronic lanes and 12 electrical manual targets.
The range can train more than 60 athletes every day. The range is equipped to handle Indian athletes from beginner to elite level with adequate weapons and consumables in stock.
