Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Wednesday announced free treatment for Padma Shri awardee D Prakash Rao after reports of his hospitalisation surfaced.
According to reports, Patnaik has asked the Cuttack collector to provide free treatment to the noted social activist who has been admitted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
Besides, expressing concern over the health condition of Rao, the Chief Minister has also asked for proper supervision of his treatment.
Rao complained of chest pain during his tour to Angul to attend a program Tuesday and was rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital. He is under treatment at the Medicine ICU of the hospital.
It may be mentioned here that 60-years-old Rao, a tea seller from Cuttack, shot to nation-wide fame after getting a mention in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Mann ki Baat’ radio programme. Later, he was awarded with country’s fourth highest civilian award in recognition of his charitable work in the field of education of slum children.
