Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik assured all possible assistance to the people of Assam to bring back normalcy in the aftermath of cyclone Remal. Taking to social media account, the CM said, “Concerned to know about the situation in Assam affected by cyclone Remal. Deeply anguished over the loss of life and damage to the property.

Odisha stands with Assam in this hour of need and offers all possible assistance to bring back normalcy.” Three persons, including a woman, were killed and 17 others sustained injuries as heavy rain accompanied by strong winds lashed the state due to cyclone Remal, officials of Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) confirmed Tuesday. Several districts were put on high alert in the wake of a forecast for heavy to extremely heavy rainfall under the impact of Remal, which made landfall in neighbouring West Bengal and Bangladesh. Power supply was disrupted in lower Assam as electric poles fell, and water-logging was reported from different towns, officials said.
