Bhubaneswar, August 24: The daily-wage labourer who had ended up breaching Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s security Sunday in his bid to have his grievance over a house heard by the CM was assured of getting a house under Indira Awas Yojana (IAY).
Sambhunath Moharana (30), whose antecedents were found clean, was let off by the Capital police station Monday.
He was assured by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) that a house under Indira Awas Yojana (IAY) would be issued to him. CMO sources said Patnaik ordered the officials concerned to issue Moharana an IAY house immediately.
The man had almost risked his own life to have his grievance heard by the CM when the latter emerged from a public function.
Sources said police inspector Manas Garanaik accompanied Moharana to the CM’s chamber, where his application was granted.
A native of Padampur village in Keonjhar, Moharana had made an attempt to hand his written plea directly to the CM when the latter was surrounded by a Z-plus security cordon. Moharana had alleged that the block officials in his native place had been making him run from pillar to post for sanctioning him a house under the Mo Kudia Yojana (MKY).
“After detaining him following the security breach, we checked the man’s antecedents and possibilities of his affiliation to any political party, and we found him clean. So we let him go,” said an official of Capital police station.
