CM to visit Ganjam today, security tightened

Chhatrapur: Security arrangements have been beefed up in the Silk City ahead of the visit of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Saturday.

Ganjam District Collector Bijay Amrut Kulange and Ganjam SP Brijesh Kumar Rai took stock of the arrangements. During his whirlwind tour, the CM will inaugurate and lay foundation stones of many projects and address gatherings in Shergarh, Hinjilicut, and Chhatrapur.

A temporary helipad has been constructed at Chhatrapur stadium where the CM’s chopper will land. Later, the CM will head towards Hinjilicut and Shergarh.

Dog and bomb squads were pressed into service to avoid any untoward incident during the CM’s visit. Steps are being taken to avoid any kind of ruckus by the opposition parties.

“All necessary arrangements have been made. There is no cause of worry for the CM,” Ganjam SP Rai said. Around 26 platoons of police have been deployed. Moreover, many senior police officials in plain clothes will guard the stadium. Additional sub-collector, district magistrate and senior OAS officers have been directed to monitor the programmes.

The CM is to inaugurate around 13 projects and lay foundation stones for three major projects during his visit. Besides, he will also chair the ‘Ama Gaon Ama Vikas’ programme and distribute funds.

According to sources, the CM will start his journey from Bhubaneswar at 10:30 am from Biju Patnaik Airport. He will land in Shergarh-based veterinary office stadium at 11:15 am. Later, he will head to inaugurate the projects and attend gatherings.

He will board his chopper at 12:20 pm and head for Hinjilicut. He will land at 12:30 pm and attend the programme. He is scheduled to head for Chhatrapur at 1 pm and lay the foundation stones of many projects, besides inaugurating some. He will head back to Bhubaneswar at 2:45 pm, it was learnt.
