CM to visit Mayurbhanj twice in five days

Baripada: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will visit Mayurbhanj district January 30 and February 3, said district BJD observer and Nayagarh MLA Arun Kumar Sahoo.

Sahoo said the CM will visit Baripada January 30 and Rairangpur February 3 respectively.

CM’s visit, following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s arrival in the district earlier this month, is being seen by political observers as BJD’s attempt to show its strength.

This is first time in the history of Mayurbhnaj that Naveen would visit the district twice in five days. He is scheduled to attend some government programmes and party functions.

Speculations are rife in the party circles that the CM would announce something special for the district during his visit.

Apart from reviewing the progress of the construction of arch dam on Budhabalang river, package to farmers, industrialisation in the district and Jambhira Irrigation project, the CM will inaugurate and lay foundation stones for some projects under the government’s various pro-people yojanas.

Notably Modi visited Baripada January 5. He attended a government programme at Baripada police ground and addressed the gathering of party workers at Chhau ground.

In his speech, Modi chided the BJD indirectly but trained his guns towards the Congress.

Immediately after Modi’s visit, Naveen’s visit to Baripada was finalised January 10. The district administration made preparations to welcome the CM but the programme was cancelled at the last moment.

Similarly, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)’s central president and former Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren is coming to the district on a two-day visit-Tuesday and Wednesday.

He will attend the closing ceremony of a football tournament and a party programme Tuesday. Soren will stay at Subarnarekha Irrigation Guest House Tuesday night.   He will address party workers at Bhatchhatar ground near Morada Wednesday.

Before returning to Ranchi, he will attend a function in Bijatala block. With the district’s political atmosphere being warmed up after PM Modi’s visit, BJP, BJD and JMM have already chalked out their schedules in the district.

At the same time, Congress is yet to make a plan to make inroads in the district.
