Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Wednesday unfurled the national flag at the Mahatma Gandhi Marg here on the occasion of 72nd Independence Day.
Paying homage to freedom fighters and martyred soldiers in his speech, the CM described how Odisha played a key role in the independence movement.
“The Odisha government is giving priority to farmers, women and youths of the state. Loan at 1 per cent interest rate is being provided to them,” the Chief Minister said.
“After the success of the Asian Athletics Championships in Bhubaneswar, the city will host the Hockey World Cup in November this year. It is a matter of pride for us,” he said.
Concluding his speech, the CM thanked those who were present at the state-level Independence Day celebrations despite heavy rain. He later received salute at the state-level parade.
