Bhubaneswar: Acting on feedback received from patients and doctors, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Monday announced additional facilities to improve healthcare facilities in three districts.
“About 10 days ago on Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary, Mo Sarkar was launched. We focussed on police and health. I have made 120 calls and the response has been overwhelming. As part of our strategy, I had sent senior officers across the state with a directive to cover at least 15 districts,” Naveen said.
He said feedback on peoples’ participation has been very inspiring and the response by both police and health functionaries in the field has been very encouraging.
As a follow-up to the first day of Mo Sarkar team’s visit, based on patient’s feedback and discussions with doctors, the government has decided to provide Rs 15 lakh to Rogl KaIvan Samities from Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) for patient welfare. The assistance will be provided to the districts headquarters hospitals of Koraput, Malkangiri and Nabarangpur along with Koraput medical college.
The CM also announced that Rs10 lakh would be given to SPs for promotion of blood donation activities.
For development of Malkangiri district headquarters hospital (DHH), he said the government will construct doctor accommodation and transit home, attendants’ restshed while bed capacity in the hospital will be increased to 200 and a bus will be introduced from Motu to Malkangiri that will play every day.
He further said that a detailed planning for a composite hospital with 500 beds will be done for Koraput medical college and hospital and the number of beds will be enhanced to 700 over next 24 months.
Similarly, a restshed for attendants will be set up on the present campus of the medical college as an interim measure and staff quarters and transit homes will be constructed. Besides, five ambulances and three Mahaprayana vans will be provided to the Koraput medical college, the Chief Minister said.
The government will enhance the bed strength to 250 and construct new wards, staff quarters and attendants’ restsheds in Koraput DHH. The hospital will also get two more ambulances.
To improve the healthcare facilities in Nabarangpur DHH, he said, the existing bed strength will be increased to 200 while a 200-bedded new hospital building and attendant’s rest shed will be constructed. Apart from this, three ambulances and three Mahaparayans have been announced for the DHH.
