Bhubaneswar, July 21: A 24-member Orissa rugby team (men’s and women’s) will leave the city July 22 to take part in the National Rugby Championships at Patna, July 24-26. The women’s team’s coach Dhiren Kumar Rout sounded optimistic about the chances of Orissa’s rugby contingent.
“I am confident that the women’s team can do an encore of the National Games, where they won a gold,” said Rout here Tuesday. “The men’s team has the ability to do well but they can face tough competition from Maharashtra, Haryana and Services. But I am hopeful they will finish in the top three,” Rout added.
