Bhubaneswar: The state department of Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (SSEPD) has now asked the collectors to expedite works on their integrated complex project.
In a communication to all the Collectors in the state, the department cited pendency of the project in many districts at several levels. The department has now advised all the Collectors to ensure expedition of the construction works of the Social Security Integrated Complex.
The department had earlier proposed to have such complexes in all the districts of the state in an area of 25 acres to ensure welfare of the differently abled, transgender and elderly persons.
It had been reported that five districts like Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Kalahandi, Sundargarh and Nayagarh are still struggling in the land alienation process and the process is still hanging in the balance at the Revenue Division office in the districts.
According to officials from the department the project is stuck at the sub-collector levels in six districts namely Gajapati, Angul, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Koraput and Dhenkanal. The department is said to have sanctioned the funds for nine districts which worked well in this sector.
On the other hand progress in terms of construction of the complex has been good and is near completion in some of the districts like Khurda, Kandhamal and Sambalpur. Funds have also been released for alienation of land for many of the districts of the state to expedite the process.
To review the situation and to ensure speedy implementation of the programme across the state, the department had called for a review meeting in the state capital with the District Collectors through video conferencing.
On the other hand the department, during the video conference, is also likely to discuss the issue of mandatory seeding of Aadhaar data of the pensioners and the digitisation of pension data from the central on the National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP) portal.
