College principal in Kalahandi under vigilance scanner

Bhawanipatna: Separate teams of Odisha Vigilance sleuths carried out simultaneous raids Monday morning on different places linked to the Principal of Maa Heera Neela Degree College in Biswanathpur locality under Lanjigarh police limits of Kalahandi district.

A source said that acting on an order of Bhawanipatna Sub-Collector, a four member committee had earlier carried out an inquiry in August 2021 and found that the principal was involved in a number of financial irregularities in the college.

The places where raids were conducted include: a residential house on Plot No-SB/07 at Arya Palli in Dumduma Housing Board Colony of Bhubaneswar, a residential house located at Biswanathpur area under Lanjigarh police limits in Kalahandi district, a stone-crusher unit at Khurda, another crusher unit at Pokharibandh near Biswanathpur of Kalahandi, Sahu’s Office in Heera Neela College at Biswanathpur.

However, the valuation of disproportionate assets that the government official has amassed will be ascertained after the raids are over.

“Raids are likely to continue to detect all the movable and immovable assets of principal Sahu. Vigilance sleuths have been scrutinising several important documents seized during raids,” the source said.
