Bhubaneswar: After remaining closed for over nine months due to the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic, colleges and universities in the state have reopened Monday.
Earlier, the higher education department had announced the date of commencement of classroom teaching for the final year undergraduate (UG) and post graduate (PG) students, for the academic year 2020-21. The department had said that the decision for reopening of the institutes was taken in view of the improvement in the COVID-19 pandemic situation in the state as well as the huge academic loss suffered by students.
Physical classroom teaching for students of 2020-21 Final Year UG/PG courses will commence from Monday. Similarly, technical universities, engineering/professional colleges, diploma/post diploma institutions of the state under the administrative control of the Skill Development and Technical Education (SDTE) Department will commence their physical classroom teaching for the final year students of PG/UG/Diploma/Post diploma programmes from Monday.
The penultimate semester examinations for the students of UG/PG courses will be held between March 16 and 31, whereas the final semester exams will take place between June 16 and 30. Results of the penultimate semester and final semester exams will be announced by April 30 and July 15 respectively, the department added.
Similarly, final examinations for the students will be held between June 11 and 30 and results will be announced by July 15.
Some COVID-19 prevention protocols have been set. Most important among them are teachers/staff/students residing in active Containment Zones shall not come to Universities/ Colleges, face mask/ face cover shall be mandatory, frequent hand wash/ hand sanitization shall be ensured, social distancing of minimum six feet shall be maintained in classrooms, libraries, laboratories, etc.
