Students of Odisha Adarsh Vidyalaya in Daringabdi of Kandhamal district form a human chain on the occasion of World AIDS Day, Sunday. The students along with the teachers participated in rallies, meetings, quiz, elocution and drawing competitions to spread the message on the dreaded disease and its prevention. As per data by Odisha State AIDS Control Society (OSACS)— year 2018 saw detection of 2,261 HIV+ cases vis-a-vis detection of 2,477 HIV+ cases till October end this year. Significantly, the total HIV tests conducted on general population in the state last year was over 4.164 lakh, whereas the total tests of general population conducted till October this year stood at 3.56 lakh. Still, detection of new HIV positive cases was higher, which is quite alarming.
