Comic horror and genuine warmth for movie buffs

Bhubaneswar:Two films will be the most-watched this week at city theatres – ‘Nanu ki Jaanu’, a comedy drama starring Abhay Deol and Patralekha Paul, and ‘Beyond the Clouds’ directed by Iranian film-maker Majid Majidi that narrates the story of two siblings.

Nanu Ki Jaanu

The first movie is a comedy which brings Abhay Deol and director Farhaz Haider back after the 2008 hit comedy ‘Oye Lucky Lucky Oye’. The movie tells the story of a land mafia agent in Delhi played by Abhay who goes through many up and downs in life. Things get worse for him as he tries to deal with an uninvited guest at his home – a ghost. The movie is a horror-comedy.

Abhay, who has some commendable films like ‘Dev D’, ‘Oye Lucky Lucky Oye’, and ‘Happy Bhaag Jayegi’ to his credit, is staging a come back after two years. “The film is worth a watch,” said Asuthosh Barik, a movie buff. Dancer Sapna Choudhary of ‘Big Boss’ fame has a guest appearance in the film.

Beyond the Clouds

The second film is the debut movie of Shahid Kapoor’s brother Ishaan Khattar and stars Malayalam actor Malavika Mohanan. It is directed by Majidi, an Iranian director who has critically acclaimed movies such as ‘The Songs of Sparrows’ and ‘Children of Heaven’ to his credit. The film focuses on bond between siblings and human relationships in general.

“The movie has been appreciated at international film festivals and is sure to be on top of the list of those who want to watch quality films,” said Sandhya Nayak, a movie buff.
