Bhubaneswar: Commissionerate Police busted a criminal network here and arrested four men Tuesday in connection with several instances of theft in and around the capital city.
A large amount of stolen goods have been recovered from their possession.
The accused men have been identified as Ganesh Purty alias singh alias Satya (26), SK Sadam Hussein alias Sadam (26), Balaram Nayak alias Balia (22) and Pradip Kumar Sahu (38).
The police seized two cars, one firearm with three rounds of live ammunitions, 150 grams of gold ornaments, three bikes, one scooter, five LCD TVs, one sound system and a laptop from their possession.
Police said Ganesh Purty is a notorious criminal against whom more than a dozen criminal cases have been registered in different police stations of Bhubanewar.
Sadam is also a notorious criminal having cases registered against him in Bhubaneswar and Puri district.
The accused have confessed to their involvement in at least seven burglary cases so far. Further investigations are on.
Police said the modus operandi of the gang was to target locked houses.
Special squad along with Khandagiri police investigated and arrested the criminals after a number of burglary cases were reported in Airfield, Khandagiri, and Tomando areas of the capital city.
