Valentine’s Day marks the celebration of love all over the world. Couples enjoy this day by exchanging gifts, flowers and lovey-dovey cards and messages. However, a study conducted for Facebook data by information designers David McCandless and Lee Byron has revealed that many break-ups and heartbreaks also do occur on Valentine’s Day.
Three reasons why couples break up around Valentine’s Day:
Expectations: During Valentine week couples expect a lot more from each other. A gift or some gesture to melt the heart. However, when expectations do not turn into reality, couples separate.
Comparison: Social media helps people to stay connected with their dearer ones but it can turn out to be a nightmare for lovers. On the media platforms a number of couples share their experiences on Valentine’s Day leading to comparisons. The pressure and resentments created due to comparisons ultimately destroy relationships.
Relationships under stress: A struggling relationship before Valentine’s Day may fall apart under the stress and demands of this day.
