When a company hires an employee, it determines the employee’s salary and increment accordingly. But you will be surprised to know that there is a company in London where employees decide their own salary and increase it whenever they feel like.
The name of the company is GrantTree, it helps business companies to get government funds. A female employee has recently hiked her salary from Rs 27 lakh to Rs 33 lakh annually.
According to a report, 25-year-old Cecilia Manduca awarded herself with a salary hike of six lakh rupees annually.
“It took a lot of talks with other people. I was aware that my job had changed. I was aware I was going way beyond my targets,” she said.
Actually, employees working at Grantree have to discuss with their fellow employees before increasing their salary. Cecilia did the same. She said “When I spoke with my colleagues internally and asked for advice, the advice they gave me was that yes I did deserve it and I was worth it.”
According to media reports, about 45 employees work in the Grantree and all people set their own salary and make changes whenever they want. However, they can review as often as they like.
Apart from this, they also consider how much more money they should take from the company according to their work.
