BHUBANESWAR: Farrago, the literary committee of AIIMS, Bhubaneswar, organised multiple intuitive events for the annual inter-college fest of the institute here on the concluding day of Chiasma.
The fest was themed around various popular series, Melas Quiz, Slam Poetry, Reverse String Theory, Devil’s Advocate, JAM and Pressure Cooker among others. With themed events and competitions, Chiasma seeks to bring out the talent and creativity of the participants in a unique way.
Secretary Balaram Behera said, “The fest witnessed major footfall of students from all over the country. It is an amalgamation of cultural, sports, literary, quizzing and fine arts events. With an array of pro nights which promises to take Eastern India by storm, Chiasma will be much more than a fest.”
An individual event titled ‘Pressure Cooker’ kick started the event. Students were given two topics on spot. They had to start talking on any one of them. There will be a bell on which he has to swap the topic. The total speaking time allotted was three minutes.
This was followed by another individual event ‘Devil’s Advocate’. The event shall be in the form of a simple court scenario where the participant has to defend a person who has been accused of certain crimes. The case scenario shall be given a few hours before the actual event, during which the participant has to think up arguments for the case. There will be a one question from the judge and one from any of the other participants at the end of the defense (No participant is allowed to ask questions twice). The allotted speaking time shall be of five minutes.
The event which followed was a Slam Poetry. The participant shall be given a prompt a few days before the actual event. Points shall be awarded for content and the manner of delivery. There will be online prelims in case the entries exceed the number of slots. Further details will be updated later.
This was followed by a group event Reverse String Theory. The concluding line of a story shall be provided and the first participant from the team is required to start (but from the ending!) Each participant shall get an allotted number of minutes after which the next participant will take over and continue the story.
