Cong accuses BJD legislature of giving away saris

BJD MLA Manohar Randhari(R) distributing saris to people

Nabarangpur: The Nabarangpur district unit of the Congress has accused the ruling BJD of violating the model code of conduct in the district by distributing saris in Dabugaon area of Nabarangpur district.

In a presser, the local Congress leaders showed some photographs in which BJD MLA Manohar Randhari was seen distributing saris to people. The party further alleged that the saris were transported in a vehicle, the number plate of which was changed.

“The BJD has violated the model code of conduct in the district. A few hours ahead of the declaration of the election dates, workers of the BJD bought many packets of saris from a shop and transported them in a gas cylinder-carrying van to Dabugaon for distribution. We have all the proof with us,” claimed Nabarangpur District Congress president Muna Tripathy.

Besides, Tripathy also alleged that even after implementation of the model code of conduct, hoardings and banners advertising various Central and state government schemes are yet to be removed in the district. BJD leaders could not be contacted to respond to the allegations.
