Rourkela: The controversy surrounding the death of Sushmita Minz, the former assistant collector of Rourkela is growing by the day with political parties and tribal organisations demanding a thorough probe into the matter. Police, however, at this point in time are waiting for the post-mortem report. They feel that the report can only guide them in the proper direction. Opposition parties, however, are gunning for the administration stating that the matter is not being probed in a proper manner.
Members of the Raghunathpalli Youth Congress submitted Monday a memorandum to the DIG Rourkela, Niti Shekhar demanding a CBI probe into the death of Sushmita. Unit president Sumit Kansari said that they demanded a ‘fair’ investigation in the matter. “We have demanded a CBI inquiry so that the actual facts will be revealed. Sushmita’s family has alleged that senior officials are responsible for her death. So only a CBI probe will ascertain the real reason behind Sushmita’s death,” Kansari stated. “Sushmita was a very efficient officer and yet she was under pressure always. So the real reason behind her death has to come out,” added Kansari. He informed that the party will also appeal to Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik if the demand for CBI probe is not heeded.
Meanwhile, Sushmita’s family continued to voice their protests at the way the investigations are on. “Where was the policeman on duty with her when she died? He should be interrogated properly,” Sushmita’s uncle said. Sushmita was found dead with her body floating in the pond of Sensory Park here September 19. She had gone missing September 16 and was traced to a hotel here the next day.
