Congress seeks to strengthen Rourkela base

Rourkela: The Congress has gone overdrive to strengthen its base in Rourkela. Party functionaries appealed to workers to bury their differences and work together at all levels.

Congress (Block-7) held its organisational meeting on the premises of Shiva Temple in Kalinga Vihar, Chhend Sunday. Congress district unit president Rabi Ray, executive president Sabir Husain and other functionaries like Prafulla Pradhan and Girija Mishra were present.

Speaking on the occasion, Ray said given the limited time for the upcoming elections, all party workers have to form committees at district, block, ward and booth levels as directed by the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee.

Hussain appealed to the party workers to bury the hatchet and get together to work while woman leader Prabhati Mishra observed that the Congress has always been with the common people and laid emphasis on women in the party.

Congress workers like Banaja Behera, Appu Nayak, Ashish Mohanty, Bulu Padhi, Pratap Biswal, Rajendra Barik, Premlalal Nag, Basant Samal, Prasanna Jena, Ghanashyam Suna and Rajaram Jena spoke on the occasion.

Party workers conveyed their wishes to four women hockey players from Sundargarh district, who have been selected to the national team for the Women’s Hockey World Cup.
